Senior Womenswear designer
Central Auckland Location
- Independent NZ Brands
- 20th January start
As you will already know, Design roles do not come up very often. And this role is a rare opportunity in other ways too. This brand has been a success story from its very first range release. Sitting in the independent market with loyal stockists throughout NZ and Australia, the brand has strong market share and a loyal consumer following. Building on their success the company introduced a second label several years ago, which also sits in the independent market, is but aimed at a slightly different consumer. Through this growth the company are looking to expand their design team.
We are seeking a competent and confident designer for this role who is experienced in range planning and putting a commercially based, yet ‘design led’ collection together. Experience with off shore manufacturing (China), as well as sound technical garment knowledge and the ability to put a garment spec together are key requirements. You must also be capable of driving projects and achieving tight and multi-faceted deadlines. Managing a small production team and multi-tasking / juggling multiple balls in the air at any one time will be second nature to you.
You will be Competent with Excel, as well as the Adobe Suite (especially Illustrator and Photoshop with some print design / development knowledge and capabilities), and have excellent time management. You must be free to travel, with up to two research/ inspiration trips a year (up to 10 nights away) and two development trips to China a year (10 to 12 nights away).
This is a great company – they are organised, structured, and financially stable. The team is made up of highly competent and dynamic individuals who are all passionate about what they do and love their roles – it’s a hardworking, but fun and motivating environment. If you are seeking a role where you can really utilise all of your skills, this is it! Please let me know that you are interested ASAP, following up with an up to date CV and portfolio or examples of your design work. We are aiming for a 20th January 2020 start date.
